Meet a member | Doris

Meet Doris Wong, the star of this week’s Meet The Member!

We love our badass members, and this girl is no exception!  She’s constantly rocking out on the Heavy Bag and working with our Personal Trainers at both our Yaletown and Mount Pleasant studios!

How long have you been a RMBL member?

I think I've been a RMBL member for about 2 years now!

Why did you decide to try us out?

When Yaletown announced they were opening in Summer 2020, I wanted to give it a try – but I was finishing up some schooling,  It was when I graduated and had some free time that I decided to try out a class. I was so nervous because I was a complete newbie but I unexpectedly fell in love with it instantly!

Heavy Bag?  Personal Training or both?

I do BOTH because how can you not??!! They're completely different in my opinion. I love the one-on-one aspect of personal training to learn the correct techniques and footwork and then applying that in class to practice and sharpen the skills I've learned, while getting a great workout!

What do you love about RMBL?

I really enjoy the vibe and energy all the Motivators bring during, and outside, of class! I like how different Motivators have their own style of music that keeps everyone challenged and motivated at the same time. I also like the fact that you hit the bag in a dark room and be in the zone with your thoughts and let out any frustrations you may have for that day and/or week.

What has RMBL taught you about yourself?

I would say RMBL has taught me to believe in myself more and that I am capable of doing/completing something that many people may think it's challenging. All the trainers I've trained with have more confidence in me than I have in myself, which gives me a lot of reassurance that I, too, can be a total badass!

What are some goals for you outside of the gym?

Probably to take care of myself a bit more, whether it be having more recovery time to let my body rest and heal from all the training and workouts throughout the week or to be more consistent with my rehab exercises from my injuries and actually take a break without feeling guilty.

If you have one, what a unique story about RMBL you would like to share?

On the top of my head, I'd say the time when both my sister and I got to hit on Vince's heavy bag because it was an overbooked class (which was majority of the time, by the way) and it was so exhilarating and one of the most FUN class I've been in! Maybe kind of trippy to other people as well because we are twins 😅
