Director of Operations

Reporting to the President of the Company, the Rumble Boxing Director of Operations is responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the locations, including customer service, sales, personnel training, and employee development. You will ensure the operational efficiencies and provide leadership to accomplish overall financial objectives. You will work with the customer service and trainers teams to guarantee operational excellence.

 

Duties & Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Operational – Quality Control

  • Carry and conduct themselves as if they are the owner of the business at all times, living and breathing Rumble Core Values
  • Committed to delivering excellent service by personally conducting, or appointing staff members to, a walkthrough of their studio hourly to ensure that the cleanness, equipment, change rooms and overall facility maintenance are meeting Rumble standards
  • Educate and enforce new studio policies and procedures and ensure consistency and continuous improvements
  • Respond quickly to customer service related issues and complaints in a timely and courteous fashion
  • Meet and conduct a weekly walkthrough of their studio with studio managers to ensure the cleanliness of the studios is meeting or exceeding company standards
  • Ensure that all Policy and Procedures, Personnel, Marketing, and materials are accurate and up to date
  • Oversee the inventory of the studio and takes measures to manage loss
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and maintaining relationships with the customers to ensure their experience meets or exceeds company standards

Financial – Performance & Sales:

  • Accountable for the daily, monthly and yearly financial performance of the studio while driving revenue and managing expenses
  • Build annual forecast and execute
  • Oversee the studios’ manager, instructor, and trainer teams to ensure that KPIs are met
  • Lead studios to ensure they are meeting or exceeding daily, monthly and yearly forecasts
  • Work in collaboration with the private training team to ensure the studio is meeting or exceeding the daily, monthly and yearly personal training forecast
  • Ensure the achieving or exceeding of revenue targets by providing the guidance and direction the team needs to effectively hit these goals
  • Prepare the studio’s success on a daily basis by putting a plan and effectively communicating that plan to the team on how to reach daily goals
  • Review the biweekly payroll submissions and reports on commission’s changes communicates to payroll
  • Creating strategies to ensure the vision (forward thinking) i.e.: need new staff, always looking forward

Team & People Management:

  • Maintains managerial oversight for all functions (Sales, Front Desk Personnel, Rumble Group Classes, Personal Training, Maintenance) and communicates regularly with team leads regarding the performance of each team
  • Understands the company’s Mission Statement, core values and overall culture of the business, leading by example and holding all employees accountable to The Rumble Core Values
  • Works closely with studio managers and team leads on making the decision to hire all sales and training staff at the studio
  • Recruitment, interview and ultimately make the decision to hire new employees
  • Authorizes and approves all staffing changes including new hires, promotions, and terminations
  • Schedule all front desk employees and sales team to ensure the studio is staffed properly to hit their goals while staying within the parameters of the payroll budgets
  • Effectively manage and communicate Policies and Procedures and make sure they are being uniformly enforced
  • Creates a positive and healthy workplace that fosters constant and never-ending improvement
  • Provides the time to coach, train and develop each staff member’s sales and customer service skills through practice and training
  • Conducts performance reviews periodically
  • Provides feedback and positive reinforcement on a regular basis to encourage and motivate staff
  • Arranges meetings with underperforming staff to provide a coaching session and a progressive improvement plan

Communication:

  • Meets with the managers and team leads daily to strategize and execute on daily goals.
  • Takes the time to coach and teach the studio managers and team leads
  • Meets with the Personal Trainers on a daily basis to make a plan on how each individual trainer is going to get to goal each month. Takes that time to coach and teach how that trainer will be successful
  • Holds a huddle meeting daily with the managers and team leads to manage KPIs and takes the time to coach and teach what that team needs to do to achieve goals
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings to reinforce team building, education and communicate team’s KPIs
  • Attends weekly management meetings with corporate staff to present their studio’s performance and overview of the current studio status
  • Corresponds daily with the team leads about the day to day performance, communicating any needs or concerns
  • Conducts reviews of their employees with the help of team lead

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This role will require walking and standing during entire shift or remain stationary for long periods of time. This would require the ability to lift weights, 5lbs up to 100lbs and bend or stand as necessary.

 

Must Have:

  • Excellent attention to detail is a crucial requirement while multitasking in a high-pace, deadline-driven environment
  • Keep it real attitude; ability to handle continuous feedback on improvements
  • Ability to visualize big picture while executing at the ground level
  • Related health fitness or hospitality experience in a leadership role with strong coaching experience
  • Must be completely proficient in Microsoft specifically in Excel and Project Management tools
  • Experience in Accounting is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thrives in a customer-focused environment
  • Excellent teamwork

 

Education & Experience:

  • A University degree in Business or 5+ years leadership work equivalent experience is required
  • 5 years of leadership and people management of large cross-functional teams including proven success in leading, coaching and motivating teams to achieve goals and objectives in a consumer-facing, fast-paced, service-oriented environment
  • Related industry experience required

Work Environment + Travel:

This job operates in a health studio environment. This position routinely deals with studio employees, members and vendors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. This is a fast-paced environment.

There is very little travel in this position. The employee may be asked to travel locally infrequently to other studios or to corporate for meetings.

Position type and expected hours of work:

This is a non-exempt, full-time position with varied hours based on business needs. This position requires night and weekend hours.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position is responsible for the leadership, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and performance managing all management staff in their studio.

MOTIVATOR

Rumble is searching for the next Rockstar motivator to add to our team. We are looking for the best of the best to lead our Rumble Tribe through a badass workout. As a motivator, you have 50 minutes to provide a killer full body workout in our heavy bag studio while hitting to the beat of the music. It is your job to execute our Fightclub meets Nightclub studio experience.

QUALITIES

You fight for it in everything you do. At Rumble, we fight for it inside and outside of the ring. We never settle for second best and we are not afraid to fight for what we believe in. Everyone at Rumble has a true fighters spirit (no fight experience required).

You have the “IT” factor. Rumble motivators are one of a kind. Each instructor has the freedom to express their personality and truly shine in the studio! Each motivator must have that special spark that keeps clients coming back for more.

You can manage the clock. In a Rumble class, you only have 50 minutes to fit in a full body workout that flows to the music. An instructor must be able to manage their time effectively and make sure that class ends on time while never feeling rushed or unfinished.

You have the ability to lead and light a fire in everyone. Everyone working at Rumble boxing is always hungry for more. You never settle and nothing is ever “good enough”. You must have an internal fire that will drive you to push further than you did yesterday and we expect you to be able to motivate each and every person in your class to push that extra 1% harder. 

You are physically fit. A Rumble motivator is expected to lead the class by demonstrating all exercises while maintaining high energy throughout the class. There is no time for getting tired, you have 50 minutes to shine, make it count.

You can think on your feet. A motivator must be able to offer modifications to exercises on the fly while in class to suit all levels of experience and fitness in class.

SKILLS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating 2-3 killer track lists per week
  • Maintain a high level of technical training
  • Explaining, demonstrating and correcting proper technique in the studio to be able to minimize injury
  • Creating exciting and different choreography in accordance to Rumble guidelines
  • Attending mandatory instructor training sessions
  • Creating new motivational scripts to engage your classes

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years Group Fitness Instruction Experience
  • Previous Boxing experience considered an asset

PERSONAL TRAINER

We are looking for energetic, creative, and enthusiastic Personal Trainers to join the Rumble Boxing team. This is an hourly position that is great for candidates looking to make a significant impact in a growing, dynamic fitness organization. There are many opportunities with this position including creating your own schedule and potential for further education where necessary. If you are a high performing individual who is passionate about winning and inspiring others then we have an exciting opportunity for you!

You can work as a team. There is no “I” in Rumble. Personal training at Rumble Boxing is not a one-man sport. We work together as a team to be able to create an all-encompassing training program to cater to each client’s specific needs. We allow clients to train with multiple trainers.

You are strong (mentally and physically). We require all of our trainers at Rumble Boxing to be able to create their own workout plans tailored to each clients’ needs. Trainers are also expected to be able to complete various physical fitness tasks such as running, jumping, squatting and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time.

You have a fire inside and strive to be 1% better every day. Everyone working at Rumble Boxing is always hungry for more. You never settle and nothing is ever “good enough”. You must have an internal fire that will drive you to push further than you did yesterday. A trainer at Rumble must also be able to transfer this philosophy to their clients to be able to push themselves further than they thought they could.

You have a safety first mentality! A Rumble we expect trainers to have knowledge on how to operate equipment safely as well as be able to offer modifications to all exercises to be able to ensure the safety of all Rumble clients.

SKILLS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer fitness evaluations, orientations, stretching and personal training sessions
  • Establish and maintain a personal training client base according to company standards
  • Instruct and demonstrate proper technique and use of exercise equipment
  • Providing excellent customer service to each and every Rumble Client
  • Conduct Sales
  • Attend personal training related meetings weekly

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current nationally recognized Personal Training certification – (preferred)
  • CPR/AED certification
  • 1-3 yrs. of previous Personal Training experience (preferred)
  • 2+ years boxing or martial arts experience (asset – not essential)
